AmeriscanGPR recently provided a utility locating survey for Benaka Inc. at Navy Reserve Center. The purpose of this survey was to scan selected areas in order to locate any utility lines that may interfere with future excavation. In order to locate underground utility lines, we incorporated ground penetrating radar (GSSI) and electromagnetic detection (RD 7000) technology. GSSI GPR is a subsurface imaging tool ideal for locating the position and depth of metallic and non-metallic objects including service utilities such as gas, communications, and water/sewer lines. The RD 7000 cable and pipe locater is equipped with a power detection mode which allows it to detect the 50/60 Hz energy present on live electrical lines. In order to locate non-electrical utility lines the RD7000 unit utilizes a transmitter in order to apply a distinct signal directly onto the line. All findings were marked on the ground in spray paint/flags.
