AmeriscanGPR recently provided a utility locating survey at an educational institute. The purpose of this survey was to scan selected areas in order to locate underground electrical
lines and any potential buried manholes/vaults. In order to locate underground utility lines, AmeriscanGPR incorporated ground penetrating radar (GSSI) and electromagnetic
detection (RD 7000) technology. GSSI GPR is a subsurface imaging tool ideal for locating the position and depth of metallic/non-metallic objects like service utilities: gas, communications, water/sewer lines, etc.
The RD 7000 cable and pipe locater is equipped with a power detection mode which allows it to detect the 50/60 Hz energy present on live electrical lines which may be present in the area. In order to locate non-electrical utility lines, the RD7000 unit utilizes a transmitter in order to apply a distinct signal directly onto the line. All findings were marked on the ground in spray paint, as shown in the site pictures.
Starting a new project or doing groundwork without scanning for underground lines is very dangerous for everyone involved, so it's important to make sure the area is clear before you begin. This is a service we are often called in for, so AmeriscanGPR is your best choice for your next utility locating survey!
