AmeriscanGPR recently provided a utility locating survey for Furino & Sons at PSEG Hackensack. We were called to do this survey in order to scan selected areas to locate any utility lines that may interfere with future excavation. To locate potential underground utility lines, we incorporated ground penetrating radar (GSSI) and electromagnetic detection (RD 7000) technology to do the job. GSSI GPR is a subsurface imaging tool perfect for locating the position and depth of metallic and non-metallic objects like gas, communications, and water/sewer lines. The RD 7000 cable and pipe locater has a power-detection mode which allows it to detect the 50/60 Hz energy present on live electrical lines. In order to locate any non-electrical utility lines, the RD7000 unit utilizes a transmitter to apply a distinct signal directly onto the line. We marked our findings on the ground with spray paint, as you can see in the images below.
This is a common job our customers ask us to do, but you can check out more uses for our services on our website at https://www.ameriscangpr.com/utility-locating-applications
